SUMMARY
Robert Katherman has more than 35 years of experience in public and private sector
project management as well as land use and environmental planning. He recently founded Adopt A Storm Drain Foundation to provide public education
and private funding for cleanup of storm water runoff to meet NPDES requirements.
The Katherman Companies affiliate company affectionately known as, Grumpy Old Men,
provides our clients with a wide variety of consulting services specializing in governmental relations, community outreach,
project management and entitlement processing.
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE
Director, Water Replenishment District, 2005 - Present
The
WRD is special water district established in 1959 which includes more than 400 square miles of Southern Los Angeles County and provides
40% of the potable water to a population of more than 4 million people.
In
the last 5 years the District has reduced its reliance on increasingly expensive and unreliable imported water by 25% and
has signed agreements to further reduce imported water needs by another 50%. Rob Katherman was part of the effort to secure
a $15 Million appropriation for recycled water projects. The WRD is also responsible for protecting groundwater quality in
the West and Central Basins.
Storage agreements pending in the 2 basins will allow 500,000 AF of unused aquifer space to store water in wet years. Rob
Katherman has been Chairman of the Water Resources Committee of the Board for 5 years.
Trustee, Palos Verdes Library District, 1995 – 2003
Elected to the PV Library Board on a platform of fiscal responsibility to cut the out of control spending
on administrative staff and an over sized and extravagant remodel of the District’s main library building.
